A little mid-October update

One thing I am realizing about myself and this blog is that I am not as faithful to it as I probably should be! Forgive me for the delay! This blog for the Friends of the USM BSU is a good idea. It's free and easy! So, no problem to write it right? Well, I have struggled but I hope to turn the corner and be better about posting.

We have just gotten back from Fall Break and getting back into the swing of things around here. Over the break 20 students and Brandy and Whit (our interns) went to Houston to do hurricane clean up work for a couple of days. The group had a tremendous time as they worked in four houses while they were there. On Saturday, they got to go root on the Golden Eagles as they played at Rice University. Well, the Eagles lost but they still had an awesome time rooting and being together.

The semester is in full swing here. We are excited to write that there about 60 students who are interested in going on Summer Missions next summer. Let me say that they are "interested". We would be thrilled to have 30 go from this group. We will keep you posted on how many are going.

Lloyd has been diligently working on processing visa applications for the group going to Asia for Christmas. This year there are 75 students across the state of Mississippi going to Asia over the Christmas break to work with Chinese university students. What a number! This is a record number for our state. God is doing a work in sending out college students across the state of Mississippi!

  • Please continue to pray for our students as they consider going out next summer. Please pray that they will be obedient to the Lord's will.
  • Please pray for international students who come to coffeetalk on Monday nights at 8 here at the BSU. We have a unique chance to reach international students here at USM.
  • We are looking at several options for our Spring Break Mission trip. Please pray for us as we begin to put the teams together and plan the trips.
Thank you for your prayers and support!
